AirGradient began as a volunteer project in Northern Thailand, helping a school monitor classroom air quality during the “burning season.” From the start, we collaborated with students and educators to build monitors, raise awareness of air pollution's health impacts, and promote positive change. We focus on open designs, durable hardware, and providing affordable, effective air quality solutions. Committed to sustainability, we joined the 1% for the Planet movement, pledging 1% of sales to environmental protection. As the only global air quality company offering free hardware designs under a Creative Commons CC-BY-SA license, we openly share schematics, firmware, and algorithms to advance research and innovation.
In a world facing increasing air pollution from wildfires and heat waves, we aim to provide reliable, affordable air quality monitors—especially for disadvantaged communities. Our global community spans over 80 countries, united by a belief in making air quality monitoring accessible to all.

AirGradient has been selected to provide air quality monitors for the biggest study of air quality in schools anywhere in the world (the SAMHE Project). The objective is to understand classroom air in UK schools post-covid, building an unparalleled data set of air quality in classrooms across the country and improving long-term air quality for all schools.
